Pool Repairs & Structural Cracks

The pool repair experts

Repairing cracks in concrete pools is essential to prevent further damage. Cracks can occur due to ground movement, poor construction, or aging materials. If left untreated, cracks can cause leaks, water damage, or even pool failure, making it unsafe. Timely crack repair extends the pool’s life and keeps it safe and enjoyable.

We've got great reviews from our clients

Why do structural cracks happen in pools?

Ground Movement

The first major cause of structural cracks is ground movement, which can result from soil settling, earthquakes, or nearby construction activities, exerting pressure on the pool’s structure.

Poor Construction

Another contributing factor is poor construction techniques or materials, which may lead to a weak pool shell that is susceptible to cracking over time.

Time and Exposure

Lastly, the natural aging process of pool materials, combined with exposure to harsh weather conditions and chemicals, can weaken the pool’s structure, eventually causing cracks to form.

How do we repair structural cracks?

Several options are available for addressing structural cracks in a concrete pool shell:

  • Seal the crack using epoxy or polyurethane injections
  • Cover the crack with hydraulic cement
  • Close the crack with rebar staples, also known as “stapling”
  • Completely remove and replace the damaged pool section

While epoxy or polyurethane injections may be more affordable in the short term, they may not provide the best long-term solution. Hydraulic cement, similar to injections in terms of durability, can serve as a temporary fix but does not tackle the underlying issue. Rebar stapling can help prevent additional cracking and ensure the area remains intact. This method can range in cost from $1,000 to $3,000 or more. Removing and replacing the damaged section can be more expensive than stapling, with the final cost varying based on the pool contractor and the scope of the required work.
